WHAT TO EXPECT ON SUNDAYS
CAR PARKING
Burnie Anglican has a small carpark onsite, it does get full! There is however plenty of parking on the streets surrounding the church with no time limits on Sundays.
Accessibility
The church is wheelchair accessible with ramps to the fellowship room and toilet facilities. The body of the church has several utility in place to assist those with mobility challenges. Burnie Anglican has one full accessible toilet.
The church has a hearing loop.
Liturgy
The Lord be with you,
And also with you!
We use liturgy in all our services. Liturgy provides us with words to say together in worship of God and for our mutual spiritual encouragement. Using liturgy means that those serving up front and the congregation participate together in the service. The words of the liturgy are on the screens for everyone to see, when there are words in YELLOW we all say the words together. If the words are not in yellow, only the leader says them, but you can read along.
The Lord’s Supper (Communion)
All Christians are welcome to share with us in Communion.
All bread is gluten free and wine or grape juice is available in individual cups.
At our 9am service, The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sunday.
At our 11am service, Communion is celebrated weekly.
Greeting of Peace
Peace be with you,
And also with you!
Before The Lord’s Supper we have a time of refection followed by confession (using liturgy). After confession, God's forgiveness is declared and we celebrate peace with God. Peace with God leads to peace with one another. Forgiven people are called to forgive. And so we share the greeting of peace together by greeting people around us. During this time you can say hello and give a handshake if you feel comfortable. Someone will tell us when it’s time to head back to our seats, usually for a song!
Singing
We love to worship together in singing Hymns and Songs of faith. We typically stand up to sing (unless unable to do so), we have amazing musicians who lead us and the words are on the screen for all of us to join in the singing.
Children
We love having children join us on Sundays at Burnie Anglican! All the leaders and helpers in our children’s and youth ministries have WWVP, are well trained and are endorsed through Child Safe.
KLT (Kids Learning Time) is run in the 9am service and includes a kids talk, memory verses and activities linked to the sermon.
After Church
Please stay and enjoy a cuppa and a chat after the service!
At Burnie Anglican we believe morning tea is where the rubber starts hitting the road for the Christian life. It is where we share life, deepen relationship and further discuss the sermon and it’s application in everyday life.
There is also the opportunity to have someone pray for you or with you after the service.
FAQ
I’m not a Christian, Am I welcome?
Our doors are open to everyone because we believe the good news of Jesus is for all people. You don’t need to have everything figured out, and you won’t be expected to pretend or perform. Whether you’re curious, exploring faith for the first time, or just visiting, you’re invited to come as you are.
Our gatherings are a place where you can listen, ask questions, and consider who Jesus is and what he has done. We would love to help you explore this good news at your own pace, and to support you as you think through what it might mean to trust in him.
You are always welcome at Burnie Anglican!
What time should I arrive?
We recommend arriving about 10 minutes before the service begins. This gives you time to find a seat, get your bearings, and settle in before things start.
If you’re visiting for the first time, feel free to come a little earlier—we’d love to welcome you and help you feel at home. Of course, if you arrive right on time (or even a little late), that’s completely fine too.
How long does the service go for?
Our services run for approximately one hour. Sometimes we may run a little over, however we endeavour to plan our services to honour God and the time that you invest in attending. You are also welcome to join us for morning tea after the service.
What should I wear?
We want you to feel comfortable joining us for a weekend service. Please just come as you are – church is about the people you’re with, not the clothes you’re wearing.
Where do I sit?
You are welcome to sit anywhere.
There’s no reserved seating, so feel free to choose any open seat. Whether you prefer to sit near the front, toward the back, or somewhere in the middle, it’s entirely up to you. If you’re unsure, our welcomers are always happy to help you find a spot where you’ll feel comfortable.
